A three-storey residential aged care facility containing 110 aged care suites within an established residential hinterland setting. Our client sought to establish a state of the art aged care facility founded on the principle of ‘ageing in place’.

A three-storey residential aged care facility containing 110 aged care suites within an established residential hinterland setting. Our client sought to establish a state of the art aged care facility founded on the principle of ‘ageing in place’.
The Challenge
Responding to significant site constraints including, established native trees, undulating topography, established low density residential interfaces and adjoining Council parkland. Concurrent with the permit application, Council sought to amend the planning scheme to rezone the site and surrounding area that would limit building heights to two storeys and potentially prohibit the proposal.
PPP's Outcome
Planning & Property Partners appeared in two separate but related proceedings. We obtained support from Planning Panels in respect to Council’s rezoning proposal, with the Panel agreeing that the proposed rezoning was not justified. At the same time, PPP managed the permit application through Council and then a Tribunal hearing with a strong opposing local community. PPP managed a comprehensive team of experts across a variety of fields, which culminated in the Tribunal determining to issue a planning permit after a long hard fought seven day hearing.
